Cabinet reshuffle today sees new appointments for MCA and Gerakan Ministers. MCA president Liow Tiong Lai has been named Transport Minister, while Gerakan President Mah Siew Keong was announced as minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. The ministerial gift for the latter, was as a result of the Teluk Intan win, where Mah had defeated his DAP opponent by a small margin.
Others appointed include Deputy President for MCA Wee Ka Siong and Chew Mei Fun as minister in the PM’s Department and women and family development deputy minister respectively. Chew
Meanwhile MCA vice-presidents Lee Chee Leong, Chua Tee Yong will hold the International Trade and Industry deputy minister, and Deputy Finance Minister positions respectively.
Speculations regarding Muhyiddin Yassins removal as the Deputy Prime Minister to be replaced by the Prime Ministers cousin, Hishammuddin Hussein have proven to be untrue as no UMNO ministers were affected by the cabinet reshuffle.
