Why is there a continuous delay in making public the report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry on illegal immigrants in Sabah?
In a written reply in Parliament yesterday, Minister in Prime Minister’s Department, Dr Shahidan Kassim said there was no issue of delay as the report was already completed, and the government will soon decide the next course of action to be taken.
It has been 6 months since the report was said to be completed, but we have not seen a shred of such reports.
Where is the government’s sincerity in solving the illegal immigrant issues in Sabah? It is the root cause of many issues like security and crime which are pertaining to Sabah, for instance, the abduction which happened at Semporna and Lahad Datu recently has shown the involvement of illegal immigrants. Therefore it is utterly important to disclose the resolution of illegal immigrants problem in Sabah.
The RCI report is long awaited for Sabahan. But it seems the BN government never took it seriously. Must the security of Sabahans be part of the political games of the BN government?
At first, PM promised that RCI will be completed before 13th general election. But now the elections are now over. There is no pressure to reveal the RCI findings. Will it be same like the VK Lingam RCI report that was swept under the carpet. The people of Sabah are sick of such delays and added that the response of the government is testament of BN’s insincerity in solving the illegal immigrant issues. Don’t play play with the sentiments and safety Sabahans!.
In last parliament sitting, Wong questioned the minister on the release date of RCI report. Shahidan has replied that the report will be released on May. Why has not been revealed until now? Is there any hidden agenda behind?
On the other hand, there are many cases show illegal immigrant has been given Identity Card. It is worrying as it would destroy the sovereignty in Sabah and Malaysia as a whole. It must be answered and resolved immediately!
I challenge the government to prove me wrong by tabling the original report in Parliament and let Parliament debate it. Since it was of the interest of Sabahans, the Sabah State Assembly should be allowed to debate the findings of the RCI as well.
