Dont blame the UPSR exam leaks on sabotage, Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming said today.
Responding to Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin suspecting sabotage to leak the UPSR examination papers, Ong Kian Ming called his conclusion rushed and irresponsible.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister said yesterday that the leak was an attempt to mar the integrity of his department and himself.
However, Ong said that the investigations were under way, therefore the Deputy Prime Minister was rash in concluding that sabotage took place.
Ong also asked that the issue not be perceived as an attack on his position as a minister.
“His concern should not be on himself and speculations of sabotage.
“The concern should be on the welfare of students and parents as well as a proper investigation,” he said.
He also asked that the Education Ministry investigate tuition centres that have allegedly leaked the school exams.
Parents and UPSR students were shocked when English papers 1 and 2 was confirmed to have leaked ahead of the exam yesterday. The news came just a day after word of the Science paper leak forced a postponement of the paper. Ong Kian Ming highlighted that the postponements of exams not only burdened the students, who had mentally prepared to sit for the exams on the scheduled dates, but the families and parents who may have made holiday plans after the exams. -The Rocket
