While the DAP’s machinery swings into motion for the Teluk Intan by-elections, DAP calls out to voters to return to the constituency and help Pakatan regain the seat left by the late MP Seah Leong Peng.
“Sojourners must understand that this by-election is more important than Teluk Intan’s GE 13 outing,” said V. Sivakumar, Batu Gajah MP.
A win for Pakatan would be a disapproval of GST, and the arrogance of Barisan Nasional, he said.
“The way our government handled the MH370 incident is a testimony of how incapable the government is; and the people must send the right message to government by making sure of Barisan’s defeat,” he explained.
According to him, there are many voters who had left Teluk Intan pursuing their careers who must understand the importance of this elections and return to give Pakatan the win they deserve.
“Voters must not ignore the seriousness of this by-elections,” he said.
He also highlighted issues with Indians from Teluk Intan who he says have been misled by MIC. Quoting P. Waythamoorthy’s failure to persuade Barisan to adhere to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), he said,
“Waythamoorthy’s resignation as the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s department is proof of the government’s insincerity in announcing that they would help the Indians.”
He cited also the wild claims made by MIC in their media statement claiming that RM 560 million dollars had been spent on Tamil schools in the nation from 2009 to 2013.
“I want to know how the RM 560 million was spent”
“Can MIC account for the RM 560 million?”
“Who siphoned the money?!” he asked.
There is no reason for the Teluk Intan Indians to trust MIC even if with their door-to-door campaigning in the area, he concluded. -The Rocket
Teluk Intan had lost MP Seah Leong Peng tragically on 1 May 2014 when he succumbed to liver cancer, leaving behind his seat to be contested again. While it is speculated that BN will field Gerakan’s President Mah Siew Keong, DAP has yet to announce its candidate. -The Rocket
