PBS and STAR should pull out of GRS for failing to stop inclusion of PAS in GRS government.
A PAS member, Dr Aliakbar Gulasan, has been included in the list of nominated assemblymen to be sworn in on Friday, 9 October in the Sabah State Assembly eventhough both PBS President, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Onkili, and STAR President, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan have vehemently denied that this would happen.
Supporters of both STAR and PBS would not have agreed to allowing PAS, an extremist party, to be a member of the DUN just as so many members of the public, institutions, NGOs and political leaders have expressed in the last few days. An online petition to not allow PAS in the DUN has already received more than 18,000 signatures in less than a week.
It is also extremely dissapointing that the GRS government has failed to recognise the need to nominate women to the DUN.
Appointing the sole two women from GRS who won in PRN16 as assistant ministers in the same ministry not only shows that GRS has no faith in the abilities of its women ADUN but also indicates stereotyping by putting them both in the Ministry of Community Development and People’s Well-being.
This shows how arrogant and uncaring the GRS goverment is turning out to be.
DAP Sabah urge Sabahans to reject this act of arrogance and disdain, and to continue to issue statements to this effect.
