DAP candidate for the Teluk Intan by-elections Dyana Sofya Mohd Dayd has called on all voters, especially those who are staying outstation and abroad to return and vote come this 31 May, and not be persuaded by the Mah Siew Keong’s skeptical view of his chances there.
“I would like to ask all voters to return to Teluk Intan to exercise your right to vote, and not be taken in by Mah’s statements”
“In this by-elections, DAP is the ‘underdog’ because Mah has held the constituency before, and is also an ex-Deputy Minister,” adding that the DAP is working hard to garner votes from everyone irregardless of race.
Yesterday, the Star had reported Mah’s statement saying that voters returning to Teluk Intan would deter his chances of winning there. He also estimated his chances of winning come May 31, to be at only 45 percent.
The DAP perceives that though Dyana has realistic chances of winning Teluk Intan, Mah who is backed by the entire government and BN machinery and is also the President of Gerakan has the upper hand.
Throughout Dyana’s campaign there, she has proven resilient in handling a barrage of verbal attacks from UMNO leaders, and their supporters. Unperturbed, she maintains that a win for her over Gerakan’s Mah Siew Keong would break the wall of racism that still looms over Malaysian politics. -The Rocket
